Beyond the Sunday service: how the HumDov app keeps your church connected all week

Most church apps are a sermon archive people open once a month. Here's what the HumDov app is, how your church shows up inside it, and the features that give members a reason to open it every day.

Short answer

The HumDov app is one shared app where your church gets its own space: group chat with voice notes, daily Journeys, the Bible, announcements, your church's own pages, and giving. It's built to keep members connected between Sundays, and to give Christians a place to find community beyond their own church.

Most church apps do the same few things. Play last week's sermon. List upcoming events. Show a Give button. They work, but nobody opens them on a Tuesday.

That matters, because Sunday is a couple of hours. The rest of the week is where people either stay connected to their church or slowly drift. If your app has nothing to offer between services, it isn't helping with the hardest part.

This post is a simple introduction to the HumDov app: what it is, how your church shows up inside it, and the main features. We'll go deeper on each one in its own post.

One app, with a home for your church

HumDov is one app on the App Store and Google Play. Your church doesn't get a separate app listing. Instead, your church gets its own space inside HumDov, with your name, your groups, and your content. On higher plans, that space carries your logo and colors too.

We built it this way on purpose. When every church has its own app, members end up with one app for their church, another for their friend's church, and another for the conference they went to last year. With HumDov, one download covers all of it, and a new member is a quick join away instead of an app install away.

Your church also gets its own web address, like yourchurch.humdov.link. Think of it as your church's front door online: your welcome page, links, giving, and sign-up forms in one place you can share anywhere, from your Instagram bio to a tap tag in the lobby.

And because the app is shared, it's also a place where Christians can connect across churches. Your church is still home base. The wider HumDov community is a bonus.

Group chat built for church

Most churches already run on chat. It just happens in WhatsApp groups and text threads the church can't see, can't manage, and loses every time a leader changes phones.

HumDov brings that chat into your church's space. Every small group, ministry team, and volunteer crew can have its own group, set up by the church so the right people end up in the right conversation. Here's what's in chat today:

  • Group chats for small groups, teams, and ministries
  • Voice notes, for the people who would rather talk than type
  • Stickers, because church groups are allowed to have fun
  • Included on every plan, even the free one, which covers up to 5 groups with no limit on members

We're also adding cards you can drop right into a conversation: an event from your church's calendar, a prayer request, a Bible verse, a sign-up sheet, a poll, and a giving campaign. The idea is simple. The things a group already does in chat should work better in HumDov than anywhere else.

Journeys: a daily rhythm, not a one-time post

Journeys are guided daily plans your church creates. Think of a Bible reading plan, but built around your church's own teaching. You pick the length: 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, or ongoing.

Each day can hold one episode or several, in any mix of text, video, and audio. So day three might be a short reading, a two-minute video from your pastor, and a recorded prayer.

Members follow along each day, and if they miss a day they can catch up instead of feeling like they fell off. Pair a Journey with a sermon series, a season like Advent or Lent, or your church's January fast, and Sunday's message keeps going all week.

Your church's pages, built by you

Connects is where your church tells its story inside the app. It's a simple page builder. You add blocks for video, audio, images, and forms, pull in videos from YouTube or Vimeo, drag things into the order you want, preview, and publish when you're ready.

It comes with pages like Highlights, About Us, Groups, and Social Posts. The same content shows up on your church's web page at yourchurch.humdov.link, so you're not designing everything twice.

Announcements, the Bible, check-in, and giving in one place

Announcements live in the Community tab, so church news shows up where your people already are, and they can react to it.

The Bible is built in, so members don't have to switch apps to read along during service or during the week.

Members check in to service through the app, and a tap tag at the door makes it even quicker. Kids check-in is part of the same system, so parents use the same app they already have.

Giving is right there too. With HumDov Give, members can give once, set up a recurring gift, or support a campaign in a couple of taps, without leaving the app.

An assistant that helps you follow up

Behind the app is the Mission Engine, HumDov's AI assistant for churches. Your church gives it a name, and members see messages from your church's assistant. It helps welcome and follow up with new people, answers common questions, and sends things like prayer or help requests to the right person on your team. Then it checks that someone actually reached out.

It's included on every plan once your church turns it on. We'll cover how it works in its own post soon.

What a week looks like

Sunday: Members check in with the app. A new family fills out a connect form, and that afternoon your church's assistant sends them a welcome.

Monday: Day one of a new Journey opens, built around Sunday's message.

Tuesday: A small group leader drops a voice note in the group chat with this week's discussion question.

Wednesday: Someone shares a prayer request in their group. A few people reply, and one offers to bring a meal.

Thursday: An announcement goes out about the men's breakfast. People react and pass it on.

Friday: A member catches up on the two Journey days they missed, then switches their tithe to a recurring gift.

Saturday: Your church's assistant reminds last week's first-time guest about tomorrow's service. They come back.

That's the difference between an app people downloaded once and an app people actually use.

Frequently asked questions

Does our church get its own app in the App Store?
No. HumDov is one shared app, and your church gets its own space inside it with your name, groups, and content. Higher plans add your logo and colors. Your church also gets its own web address, like yourchurch.humdov.link.
Why not a separate app for each church?
One app means one download for your members, a faster setup for you, and a place where Christians can connect across churches. It also keeps costs down, which keeps HumDov affordable for small churches and church plants.
How long does it take to get our church set up?
Most churches are set up within 24 to 48 hours. If you're bringing data over from another system, that part takes longer depending on how much data you have.
Is chat included on the free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes chat with up to 5 groups and no limit on members.
Can members give through the app?
Yes. HumDov Give is built in, so members can give once, set up recurring giving, and support campaigns right from the app.
Does the app work for ministries and communities that aren't churches?
Yes. HumDov has Community plans for ministries, networks, and groups that don't hold regular church services. You get the same app, chat, Journeys, and giving.
